Since designated as a part of Bromo Tengger Semeru Arjuno-Biosphere Reserve (BTSA-BR), it is necessary to link the management of BTSNP with the other areas within the scope of the biosphere reserve, including about tourism. We inform you about some tourism destination arround this national park. At this session we inform you the tourism destination in buffer zone of BTSNP area.

1. Madakaripura Waterfall

For me, Madakaripura is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever visited. Its beauty can be paired with Bantimurung waterfall in South Sulawesi or Moramo waterfalls in Southeast Sulawesi. It is located in Sukapura Subdistrict, Probolinggo Distict. Madakaripura is believed as the hermitage location of the famous Mahapatih Gadjah Mada. We can enjoy the magical atmosphere in this tourism site. Prepare a raincoat if you are not ready to be wet. Use comfortable shoes bacuse we have to pass through many slippery rocks even have to climb to get a specific location in order to get a good view.

2. Pelangi Waterfall

Pelangi is Indonesian term of “rainbow”. Well, in a sunny day, we will see a rainbow arround this waterfall. It is located in Gubuk Klakah Village, belonged to Poncokusumo Sub-District, about 32 km away to eatern part of Malang City. Find a lovely mountain resort, beautiful scenery and the magnificent view of apple plantation along the way.

3. Sumbermujur Bamboo Forest

The term “Sumbermujur” is taken from a name of the village where it is located. Its belonged to Candipuro Sub-district, and can be reached in about 30 km from Lumajang City. This bamboo forest supports water supply on Mt. Semeru slope needed by locals. In this forest, we will see groups of long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis).
